The act of dancing is transformed into a mitzvah (i.e. a vessel to receive Divine blessing) when one drinks kosher wine in a measured fashion for the sake of cleaving to Hashem. Shabbos, Yom Tov, jewish weddings, and other celebratory meals like Purim are ideal times for this Divine service. Feel profound joy knowing that Hashem has handpicked you from all of humanity; let this knowledge awaken true simcha in your heart until it is drawn down all the way to your feet, causing you to get up and dance! Through this exalted dancing one pushes away any external negative spiritual forces that usually gather by the feet, thus sweetening and nullifying any sort of negative judgments from Heaven, and then one merits to receive all the Divine blessings that flow from Above. This enthusiastic, elevated dancing is truly considered a sweet smelling sacrifice to Hashem!
But one who dances with the excitement of the evil inclination is considered as if he brought a strange foreign sacrifice, and the wine that he drinks is considered intoxicating wine, which draws its sustenance from the external negative spiritual forces. -Likutei Etzot on Joy, 12
May we all be worthy to experience these exalted levels of dancing and drinking wine this Purim!!!
